Bottoms Up Budget
Get ready to raise a glass and toast your business profitability with The Women’s Accountant’s free Bottoms Up Budget – a simple tool designed to help you build a successful and scalable business on your terms, step-by-step and sip-by-sip.

What is the Bottoms Up Budget?
Unlike traditional top-down approaches to budgeting, the Bottoms Up Budget is true to its name — starting with your end goal and working your way backwards.
Instead of focusing on what you have now and allocating funds from there, we focus on what you want to end up with (that big, hairy, audacious goal) and plot a path to achieving it.
How Does It Work?

1. Determine Your Desired Profit:
Start by deciding how much you need or want to make in the upcoming year (e.g. $150K).
And remember: profit is what you earn over and above your wage, or what you pay yourself.

2. Calculate Your Expenses:
Figure out your expenses (operating costs, wages, and costs of sale) and how much it costs you to ‘keep the lights on’ across the year, and itemise them in the spreadsheet.

3. Let the Spreadsheet do its Thing
Based on your desired profit and your expenses, our handy formulas will calculate how much revenue you need to generate (aka sales you need to make) to achieve your goals (e.g. $225K a year).
“I bloody love this template.
It helped me figure out exactly how much it costs to keep my business running, and it’s even helped me get super clear on what I need to focus on and what I need to charge in order to not just pay myself but actually make a profit.
It’s super easy to use, all the formulas are already in there and you’re good to go.”
